Building your profile
Is "Undecided" an option for the program of interest?
Students must indicate a primary area of study they are interested in and cannot select Undecided. Students are also able to provide any secondary areas of study they're interested in pursuing, and can always make edits to their profile if those programs change.
What information is required to complete the my profile?
Students are required to complete the following sections of their profile: Basic Profile, Regions & Languages, Search Criteria, and provide at least three final years of grades. We also encourage students to respond to the questions under Preferences to share more about their interests and activities.
Can I add documents/supplemental items to my profile?
Yes! There is a Documents tab that allows students to upload things like resumes, personal statements, portfolios, etc. These are not required to complete your profile, but you can add any supplemental items you'd like!
Can I edit my profile after I Publish?
Yes, students can edit their profiles at any time. Prior to our monthly events, a version of your profile is saved and shared with universities for review. Any changes made to your profile will impact the next event.
Profile Review Process
Is it possible to be considered for an athletic scholarship or to be recruited for sports through Match?
The offers of admission and scholarship made on Match are based on academics. Students can discuss the possibility of pursuing athletics by chatting with a university rep after they've received an offer.
What criteria determine which universities a student might hear from?
Students will only be reviewed by universities that fall within the parameters the student has set in their profile. For example, universities that :
- Offer the program the student wishes to study
- Are in the state or country the student has indicated an openness to studying in
- Fit the campus criteria the student has provided.
- For international students: universities with an annual cost that falls within the student's budget range.
Offers
Are the acceptances received through Match real?
These are real acceptances; no further application is required. When students receive an offer they're interested in, the next step is to respond and click the thumbs up!
Are the terms and conditions the same for each offer?
Terms and conditions vary by school and may include meeting final grades, minimum scores, or maintaining a GPA.
Why haven't I gotten any offers?
If your profile has been completed, published, and active, but you have not received any acceptances there might be a wide variety of reasons.
- You haven't met the academic requirements of the universities
- Your program of interest is more niche, and not offered by many of our university partners
- We have limited university partners in the locations you've indicated you'd like to complete your studies.
- For international students, universities were not able to provide you with sufficient scholarship to make their institution affordable.
- International students will only receive acceptances from universities that fall within their budget range.
General Program Questions
Can students apply directly to universities while also using Match?
Yes, students can apply to universities directly while using Match. Students should add any schools they're applying to on their profile to avoid duplicate reviews and ensure they only receive new acceptances.
Would applying directly to a specific university increase the chances of being accepted?
Our platform is meant to introduce students to new university opportunities. If a student is interested in pursuing a particular university, they should apply directly.
